Versatility vs. Specialization
- A longer rod is more tolerant to different line weights than a shorter one of same action.
- A rod with "deep action" takes more line weights than a faster rod of equal length.
- A rod which responds to the line quickly, allowing short casts, must have a "deep" action.
- A rod that is able to lift a long line is always a "deep action" rod.
As You can see rods with slow progression have many advantages over the faster rod. I could have mentioned more ... But Your "casting temper" must match the action; if a short, fast rod is right for You, then stick to one.
